The New Girl

Sunshine poured through my window as I woke up. It was a lovely day, and nothing could ruin my spirits.
Hey, it’s Bubblegum! After my accident, I found out I had some nasty injuries, but I was mostly alright. Plus, it was the second day of high school!
I changed into my cheer squad outfit, grabbed my pom-poms and stuffed them into my bag before heading to school in my older brother, Michael’s, car.
He dropped me off and I dashed into the halls to find the entire school gathered around something. I quickly made my way forward to investigate.
As I drew nearer, I spotted Nature, Lucia, Mackenzie and Jasper. Then, in the midst of the chaos, stood Lisa, staring angrily at another girl I didn’t know. She had beautiful blue dyed hair, in dreadlocks, and her piercing blue eyes bore into Lisa’s. As if sensing me staring, she whipped around, and I felt a jolt in my body. Ow!!
Lisa yelled. ‘How dare you! I’M the queen of the school!!’
The girl smirked. ‘Well, try harder, girl. I’m Hikari, by the way. Also, try being nicer. it’s a crucial part of fame.’ With that, she strutted off, Lisa growling.
I hurried over to Hikari. ‘Hey, that was cool! Ignore Lisa.’
She glared at me. ‘Why are you talking to me?’
I stammered. ‘I just wanted to be friends!’
She smiled this time. ‘Sorry. I just am NOT good with people!’
‘You can say that again.’
Lisa’s cold voice peirced through the silence.
Then, she aimed her fist at Hikari, who dodged and shot a swift kick at Lisa’s face. Lisa yelped. I backed away, when I felt a cold voice in my thoughts. Get away. Now! RUN!!
I sent a message back through my mind. Who is this?
A frantic voice broke through. It’s Hikari. I’ll explain later! Just RUN!!
I sprinted through the halls as Lisa went completely mad, biting people and slapping them.
Finally, after school ended early, I slid into an empty classroom, to find Hikari sitting there, playing with her hair.
She turned to me. ‘Let’s get this over with, okay? I can read minds.’
I smirked. ‘Sure.’
Just then, I felt a horrible pain in my temples. ‘Ow!!’ I yelped.
She smirked. ‘Want me to do it again?’
‘Nah,’ I groaned. ‘I got it!’
We talked for a bit, and she was actually really sweet! She told me about how she helped homeless kids with her power and helped win money for her family. I was amazed.

The next day, I ran to school. Hikari was strutting down the hall, drinking in all the attention, while Lisa glared at her. I rolled my eyes, applying a thick layer of my lip gloss. The news that Hikari was a mind-reader was all across the school, and it was all anyone could talk about!
I slammed my locker door shut, to see Lisa glaring at me. Amy, Sally and Wolverine, her BFF’s, stood behind her, smirking.
‘Hey, loser.’ Lisa snarled. ‘What did Hikari say?’
’N-Nothing!’ I said.
Amy flipped her pink hair and opened her little flip phone to show a recording. But just then, I smelt smoke.
The four girls took off, and I scrambled to find my friends as thick flames surrounded me. My breath came in short gasps, and I felt everything go black.
