Different

Lisa lunged at me, and I managed to duck in time.

She then snarled. ‘You know what?! You’re a LOSER! Marcus, STOP hanging out with her! She’s a poor NOBODY! And you, Mackenzie! Your friends are either star athletes or popular  models. You’re DUMPSTER GARBAGE! NO-ONE likes you, you spoiled-‘

Her words were cut short as my palm connected to the side of her face.

Everyone gasped.

She got up and snarled angrily. ‘HOW DARE YOU!’

I quickly grabbed my bag and ran to class. Thankfully, she wasn’t in it!

By lunch, it was all over IG. I desperately fumbled for my phone. Logging in, I gasped at the videos.

I sat as a million people clamoured around me. I was SO mad! Lisa had to BACK OFF!

Meanwhile, the brat just sat there, acting innocent and hurt and all-the-while flipping her hair and shooting me smug grins.

Once, I heard her bawl to Marcus.

‘Marcus! She actually ASSAULTED me!’ She fake-sobbed. ‘She is SO horrible!’

I rolled my eyes. She was SUCH a DRAMA QUEEN!

Later that day, me and the girls went to the café in town for lunch after school.

Lucia bit into a pizza slice and regarded us. ‘Girls, Lisa has gotten away with TOO much! We HAVE to take revenge!’

I sipped my double-chocolate-double-fudge-with-extra-whipped-cream and frowned. ‘How?’

Lucia winked. ‘One step ahead of ya!’

So that’s how, the next day, we walked to school early to get to Lisa’s locker. Lucia took out a water sprinkler, and adjusted the timer. I asked how she knew when Lisa would be there.

‘It’s easy!’ She replied. ‘OK, girl, in case you haven’t noticed, Lisa walks here at exactly 12:05 for applying more lip gloss. So, when she walks past, Lisa will get drenched!’ She laughed.

Sure enough, at 12:05, me, Lucia, Nature and Bubblegum snuck behind the lockers. Lisa walked past, giggling to Amy, and suddenly, SPLASH! A huge splash of water drenched her!

She growled, slowly turning toward us, and we quickly sprinted away, laughing crazily.

The next day, I had gone to fix my hair in the girl’s toilets, when I heard sobbing from a nearby cubicle. I knocked. ‘Is anyone there?’ I asked.

‘Go away,’ Came the croaky reply. ‘ESPECIALLY you, Mackenzie Sparkle!’

But then I heard a click as the door opened. LISA?! She had tear streaks on her face, and I, for a second, felt kind of bad for her.

‘Lisa?’ I whispered. ‘Do you..wanna talk about it?’

She sniffed. ‘My parents stopped living together. My father is an F1 car dealer, and my mom is a model. I have no one to talk to,’ She whispered. Then she looked at me. ‘Thank you,’ She whispered. Then she did the UNTHINKABLE for Lisa Ton! She wrapped her arms around me in a hug!

I awkwardly hugged her back. Maybe Lisa did have a softer side after all.

Now THIS girl I could get used to!
