Suspicious

Hey guys, Nature here! The past days had been SUPER crazy when Bubblegum told us that Jasper had proposed to her. Mackenzie had gone mad.
‘WHAT?!’ She had shrieked. ‘OMG, BUBBLE!!’
It was my seventeenth birthday, and I was more than ever excited!!
As I woke up to the sunshine, I suddenly got a call from Bubblegum.
‘Happy birthday, Nature!’
I smiled through the phone. As i quickly showered and grabbed my purse, i texted Bubblegum.
Nature> hey. meet at the bakery with Lucia n Mackenzie.
Bubblegum> of course girl!!
I grabbed my stuff, and ran to the popular bakery in town- Sweet Dreams bakery. it was packed with people, and the aroma of fresh, baked muffins and bread wafted from the kitchen to my nose. As I spotted my friends, they did too and ran over to me, hugging me tight.
‘Nature! Happy birthday!’ Lucia giggled.
Mackenzie swished her long blonde ponytail over her shoulders and her blue eyes crinkled at the sides as she laughed. ‘Happy birthday!!’
Bubblegum hugged me. ‘Happy birthday, bestie!’
Lucia, Mackenzie and Bubblegum handed me a big silk package, which I gently stroked, untying the ribbon.
I opened it to see a big bag of stuff like lip gloss, a new poster for my room, a furry stuffed toy, and a cute new backpack!!
‘Thanks, guys!’ I gushed. ‘This is amazing!!’
We celebrated, and finally they had to go home. I did too, then changed into my PJ’s, brushed my teeth, and went to bed.
The next day, in school, I was just hanging around the lockers, chatting with my friends, when Lisa and her gang walked up to us, and Lisa swished her blond hair behind her shoulders, her cold blue eyes piercing into mine.
‘Hey, loser. I KNOW you think you’re seventeen and that you’re safe and grown up! Well, this is not over! I know Jasper proposed to Bubblegum, by the way. WELL, I DON’T–‘
I cut her short. ‘Who told you that?!’
She smirked and whispered in my ear. ‘I know a lot of things, Nature. And a lot of them are cold and creepy. Well, gotta go. See ya, suckers!’
I shrugged it off, but Lisa’s last words caused a shiver to run through my spine.
‘I know a lot of things, Nature. And some of them are cold and creepy.’
No no no. This was NOT good. I grabbed my bag. ‘Uh, gotta go guys. See you at lunch.’ I muttered.
I barely focused during class, and Lisa made sure I felt uncomfortable. Her icy blue eyes would bore into mine and that evil smirk on her face made me shiver.
When the bell for lunch rang, I quickly darted to the café. Grabbing a strawberry milkshake and some French fries, I headed to my table. As I sat down, my friends asked me if I was okay.
‘I’m fine,’ I sighed. Then I sighed again and finally told them everything.
At the end of my quick rehash, Jackson smiled at me sweetly. ‘Do you wanna take a walk?’ He whispered.
‘Yes,’ I smiled.
We excused ourselves and headed to the empty hallways, strolling up and down.
We paused in front of my locker. Jackson turned to me.
‘I remember when we met.’ He chuckled.
‘Yeah.’ I said. ‘We were playing a fighter game and you saved my butt.’
We laughed together.
He then shyly smiled at me, tucking some hair behind my face.
‘You’re so pretty. That’s why I fell for you.’
I blushed scarlet. He kissed me gently.
I reached for his fingers, and they warmed my own. ‘Thank you, Jackson.’ I whispered.
‘Nah, it’s nothing. I gotta look out for you, right? Always.’
’Yeah, I love you.’ I smiled.
