Hi! It’s Lucia here, and today was the day that everything changed..
..I woke up, took a shower, then threw on some jeans, sneakers, socks, and my favourite t-shirt. Braiding my blonde hair, I quickly grabbed my blue bag and darted down the wooden staircase into the kitchen.
‘Morning, mom!’ I looked down at my little sister. ‘Good morning, Jen!’
‘Hi!’ Jen waved back while staring at the iPad in her hands.
Sigh..I grabbed my bag off the couch and headed across the street to school.
As I arrived, though, I saw Lisa. But right next to her was another girl, exactly like her, but with blonde hair in a smaller ponytail. Her outfit was stunning, and she stood next to Lisa but with a huge smile on her face.
As I passed her, she called out to me. ‘Hi!’ She waved. ‘I’m Lily. I’m new. Could you show me to my locker?’
‘U-Uh, sure.’ The words slipped out of my mouth.
‘Thanks! I-uh..I’m Lisa’s sister..’
I literally almost threw up the sandwich I’d eaten for breakfast!!
‘WHAT?!’ I screamed. ‘OMG!’
Even my friends, standing nearby, looked pale.
‘H-How?!’ Mackenzie said. ‘But you’re so nice!!’
‘I know Lisa has made quite an impression here..’ Lily said. ‘And I want her to be nice; not rude!’
‘Well, that’s working,’ Muttered Mackenzie.
‘Anyway! I heard you guys are in a band?’ Lily looked at me quizzically.
‘Yeah,’ I looked at my friends. ‘Mackenzie’s lead vocals, Nature is guitar, Bubblegum dances, and I play drums!’
‘Wow!’ Lily looked at all of us. ‘Anyway, see you in lunch, girls. Bye!’ With that, Lily headed down the hallway.
‘Well, that was awkward,’ Nature quipped.
‘Tell me about it!’ Bubblegum’s laugh broke the tension immediately. ‘She’s Lisa’s sister, so yeah..’
‘Well, gotta go, guys! I have to catch up with Theo after class, so I won’t be there for practice..sorry.’ I said.
‘That’s okay, Luce.’ Bubblegum said. ‘Hang out with him. We’ll make our vocals and choreography and you can just add your drum track later!’
‘Thanks!’ I called out as I sped off to class, and I heard them giggling.
Well, just great. Lisa’s sister had arrived, and now Lisa was probably torture us if we became friends with Lily, which would just lead into a bigger mess!
Lily was nice, though.
But somehow, I couldn’t shake the nagging feeling inside me that something terrible was gonna happen.

After school, I ran to the local café to meet Theo.
‘Theo!’ I ran over to him. He held two steaming cups of coffee, topped with whipped cream.
‘Thanks!’ I smiled gratefully as I sipped the warm drink. It warmed my icy tongue, and I was grateful for the comfort.
‘So,’ He started. ‘Lisa has a sister?’
‘Yeah, Lily..’ The sigh escaped my lips before I could stop it.
‘Listen.’ Theo reached for my hand across the table. ‘I know we can do this, Luce.’
‘I know.’ I smiled happily to the amazing boy at my side. ‘Thanks, Theo.’
As I waved goodbye to him, he headed onto the bus. I started to walk the opposite direction, when I saw her.
Lily.
She had a hoodie on, but it wasn’t her unmistakable blond hair or figure that caught my eye.
It was the person in front of her.
